Rationale
To add 1 2/3 and 4/7, first convert 1 2/3 to an improper fraction: 3*(1)+2=5/3. Then, find a common denominator for 5/3 and 4/7, which is 21. Convert 5/3 to 35/21 and 4/7 to 12/21. Add them to get 47/21, which simplifies to 2 5/21. Therefore, the correct answer is D. Choice A is incorrect as it does not match the calculated result. Choice B is incorrect as it does not account for the proper fraction addition. Choice C is incorrect as it does not simplify to the correct result.
