Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking an Operating Room First Assistant Registered Nurse. You will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care in a surgical environment. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

In this role:

• You will be able to perform general nursing duties and be competent in all OR procedures as verified by specific competencies.

• You will demonstrate the ability to facilitate smooth and efficient room turnover and patient flow

• You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.

• You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures
• You will give a thorough report of patient’s intraoperative condition to PACU nurse.
• You will facilitate communications between patient, surgeon, and OR staff and family and other departments as needed.
• You will appropriately responds to the patient in an emergency or physically distressful situation.
• You will be consistently ready and prepared for assigned cases.
• You will ensure Pre-op Checklist is complete (HandP present, informed consent signed, test results present, etc.) before patient is taken into surgical suite.
• You will rely on previous experience to anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon.
• You will complete all paperwork and computer charting to ensure accurate and timely charting and patient charges occur.

• Must be licensed as a Utah Registered Nurse or ARNP in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active UT RN license required within 60 days of hire.
• Current Certified First Assistant (CFA) having completed 350 cases. Two years of experience within the last four years.
• Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Current Certification as First Assistant (CFA) required.
• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
